The beach

I have been curious how Kendall would handle the beach this year so we packed up some things and made our way to the Isle of Palms with grandma and grandpa.  What an adventure!

Kendall was all about playing in the sand and loved having her bucket filled with water. However, getting in the water was a different story.  I tried once and so did grandma but it wasn’t her favorite thing.  Maybe, when we try again she’ll have warmed up.image Ethan slept for the first few hours of his first trip to the beach but then joined us for some fun.  He didn’t mind the water or the sand between his baby toes.  A wave caught him off guard but he just sat there and watched as the water trickled over his little legs.  Such a content little boy! image image I do believe Kendall’s favorite part was smashing sand castles with grandpa.  We made sure the people who built it were gone and she went to town.  Silly girl!image We had a terrific time.  Thank you to my parents for making this a fun, enjoyable experience for all.imageUntil next time, beach.  Thanks for the fun in the sun! image                                                                                     (Please overlook the quality of all the phone pictures).

Four months old

Well, little munchkin, you are growing like a weed.  I feel like you are a lot bigger then Kendall was at this age.  We will find out on June 11 how you measure out.  You are such a happy baby and rarely cry.  I have continued with your Zantac but mostly just once a day, it seems to be keeping you content.  There has only been one day, that I can remember, that I did not give you any Zantac and it made quite the difference.  You were incredibly fussy and spit up more then normal.  Thankfully that has only happened once.

Smiling is one of your favorite things and it just melts my heart to see that big, gummy, wide mouthed grin practically all day long.  And, I love to make you laugh, boy is it the best.  I must say I’m good at it too.  I’ll have to get that on video soon.  imageimage                                            It was rainy on the day you turned 4 months but these were two days later)

You are still good at nursing and you are up to drinking six and a half to seven ounces of milk with each bottle.  You’re last feeding is between seven and nine in the evening and you usually wake up around one or three in the morning to eat again.  I’m hoping that sleeping through the night will be coming soon.  You are in a size two diaper and mostly 3-6 months clothes.  Your sister adores you and wants to make sure you are okay at all times.  She is your little mommy.  She helps out with so much and sometimes I just sit and watch as she plays with you and kisses you. If you are crying, she can coo at you for a few seconds and you are quiet in an instant and thank her with one of your sweet smiles.  I think you love her as much as I do!

I’m so thankful to be the mommy to two precious babies.  I love you both so very much!

Happy St. Patricks Day

We met some friends at a local block party for the third year in a row. It is family friendly and there is always a crowd.  Ethan fell asleep on the way and stayed asleep until we got home.  Ahh, the life of a baby.  Kendall wasn’t too sure about the crowd and wanted to be held quite a bit. We found a place in the shade, since it was 82 degrees, and watched some of the festivities.  She warmed up to the crowd the longer we were there although we only stayed an hour.  Ryan wasn’t feeling good and Kendall was getting antsy.  We did enjoy it for the time we were there.image Faces of a two year old who sees her face in the iPhone camera. Love it!image imageIt’s funny how in the reverse camera mode on the iPhone, you think you’re getting a good picture until you see the real thing.  Oh well, at least we tried. LOL! image It was such a beautiful day so I decided to take Kendall and Ethan for some ice cream and to the park while Ryan rested.  Kendall has only really had ice cream at birthday parties so I wasn’t too sure how she would do with a scoop of her own.  I ordered her some strawberry and I pigged out on mint oreo and chocolate chip cookie dough on a waffle cone (it was delicious)!  Kendall did great, didn’t even make a mess, until she wanted mine.  There was a few bites left in her cup when she offered me her spoon and said, “here mommy, you have this one” and then reached for my cone and said, “I lick it?” How could I say no, she wanted to share.  I didn’t feel so guilty with my order after my 2 year old ate half of it.imageI helped Kendall with the drips from the cone but otherwise she ate every bit of what you see here. This girl will eat anything sweet.  She looks so big eating the cone.imageWhen we were done with ice cream, we headed to Middleton Park for more outside fun.  We spent most of our time on the swing but did make it down the slide a few times.  I love watching Kendall at the park.  She definitely has no fear!  image

Twenty one months old

Another month older, another month of happiness.  Kendall is a joy to have as a daughter and it just really gets better and better as she gets older.  There really isn’t too much to update this month except for her teeth. She has eleven now.  It took 8 1/2 months from the time the first two came in until we saw anymore but now they just keep coming and you wouldn’t know it unless she opens her mouth.  I hope they all are that easy.  We still have the pacifier for those that might be wondering.  I actually haven’t even tried  to get rid of it.  My plan is to attempt that this weekend.  Ha, good luck to me, right? imageThe outdoors is a huge play area for little miss.  She is always checking out the leaves, mulch, flower beds, birds, lizards, trees, and noises.  There is not a bug nor car that passes by without getting her attention somehow.  And she never misses an airplane (excuse the blurriness).imageIt is hard for me to think, that in just three months, I will have a 2 year old.  I think I need to start planning her birthday party before I run out of time.  Here’s to another month of joy sweet girl!

Isle of Palms

Michelle and the boys came down from Columbia today to spend a day at the beach.  It was Kendall’s second time on the beach but her first time to really play and get used to the sand and water.  She hung out with Sam under the umbrella for a while until she got used to everything.  Once she explored some more, she was a pro.  You would have thought she had been before.imageShe had so much fun playing in the sand and running through the water.imageLook at my sweet nephews and their momma! Check out my sister’s beach day blog.imageThese two were too funny to watch.  It was a game of monkey see, monkey do at some points. imageKendall had an absolute blast being tossed in the air by daddy.  She went back for more a few times and wore daddy out.  Yes, she looks pretty high but she was in safe hands!imageI can’t wait for the next trip to the beach.  I know Kendall will run to meet the waves.

Eighteen months old

Look how big my baby is getting!  She looks so tall.  Her most recent, newest, favorite thing is to eat Cheerios out of a tupperware container.  She thinks she is hot stuff. “MINE” she says if you try to take it away or even help her to hold it upright. imageWhat a sweet face! imageKendall really enjoys puzzles and stickers right now.  They keep her occupied for quite a bit of time.  I love to watch her focus on what she is doing.  She has learned many more animal sounds, which are the cutest thing to hear and I have been working on a few numbers and colors.  Her vocabulary is growing and her little personality is flourishing.  She is a hoot, I tell ya!  Kendall still has two teeth and is quite the picky eater.  The newest thing she will eat is cream cheese, either on a waffle or an English muffin.  I am thankful for this.  image Not much else to report with our munchkin.  She goes for her eighteen month well check next Monday so we’ll see what her bill of health has to report.

Spring Fling

Recently myself and a friend of mine decided to become Co-Events Managers for Charleston Mommies.  The Spring Fling was our first event that we took charge of with the assistance and input of other members.  It was at Eubanks Park in Goose Creek and we had quite the turnout.  We also decided, with the idea of another member, to plant flowers at the park as part of our community outreach service.  See our flowers below the sign?image Kendall was all over the place.  She had a blast running around in the wide open spaces that the park offered.  She knew her boundaries and left no corner undiscovered.  Faith helped me push her on the swings which she could stay on all day long.  Thanks Faith!image The playground was quite popular for all of the kids and Kendall decided that the very top level was her favorite place to be.  She quickly figured out how to get down the stairs, much to my dismay, but was safe about it every time.  There was always something there for her to grab on to whether it was my hand or a part of the playground.  You better believe she was not out of my arm’s reach.  She is fearless, I tell ya! imageI do believe everyone enjoyed themselves, as there was something there for everyone!  The theme of the Spring Fling was somewhat of a field day with not as many events

There was Daddy tug of war which was pretty exciting for the kids to watch.imageKickball with teams of mommy’s and kidsimageAnd while the dad’s weren’t busy with tug of war or daddy duty, they were able to play a game of corn hole. imageKendall slowed down long enough to drink chug a Capri Sun and then was back to playing.imageThe kids participated well with planting the flowers and were more then helpful with digging holes and watering our pretty  new addition to the park.   imageIt was a successful, fun event and I look forward to many more of the same.  Thanks to everyone for coming out and making it a good time. image

And we have sand!

I decided to finally fill the other half of Kendall’s two in one table with sand and she really enjoyed it.  I was curious to see what she would do with the sand between her fingers but she didn’t mind it one bit.  She managed to play the entire time (this time) without putting sand in her mouth.  I know this day will come but for now, good job, baby girl!imageShe wanted to share some sand with me. How sweet! imageKendall was so focused on her new pile of fun sand that I could not get her to look at the camera whatsoever.  She always wants to see how everything works, always so busy. No time to smile.image This summer is going to be full of outdoor activities I can already tell.  We are going to have to stock up on outdoor toys to keep our busy body little miss occupied.  She has already mastered the word ow-sigh (outside) and runs for the back door, if that tells you anything.

Fun in the sun

After church, Kendall and I went to run a few errands.  I knew one of the things we had to do was to get her a fun toy to play with outside.  And that we did!  We picked up a sand and water table and home we went to test it out.  imageOh, the fun she had.  I don’t have sand for the one side yet but the water kept her quite content.imageimageI can’t wait to see how she plays with the sand.  She had so much fun splashing in the water and getting everything wet.  This girl loves anything outdoors as you can tell by her sweet smile!

At the park with Jack

We usually go to Middleton Park when Jack is in town but today we decided to head to Wannamaker County Park.  It is a lot bigger and boy, was it packed.  Kendall didn’t know where do begin and almost had this, “wow, I’ve never seen so many people!” look on her face.imageShe tried out any and everything she could, that was at her level.  She didn’t want much help from her mommy today.  How can that be? She’s just 14 1/2 months old, she’s supposed to need me to hold her hand still.  Well, she does, she just didn’t at the park.  She wanted to be a big girl!imageThere are two sections of the park as well as a big hill that all the kids like to take a piece of cardboard to the top of and slide down.  Jack was all over the place and him and Grandpa even made it to the top of the hill a few times, only to look, not to slide.  When they were standing still long enough, these are the pictures I got of the sweet cousins.imageLook at these baby faces!  They are growing so fast and I could just kiss their cheeks all day.imageJack found a big stick and in the blink of an eye it was a golf club, a sword and a gun.  Such an imagination on my sweet nephew.  He wasn’t happy when we had to say bye to the stick but Grandpa quickly saved the day with a visit to the climbing wall where Jack took a quick break.imageMy sweet girl had so much fun at the park and even more so with this super size plastic cup.  She could fill it up with stones, dump it out and repeat a time or two before she got bored with it.  Jack was doing it first and of course Kendall followed behind, monkey see, monkey do! image  We are so glad you could come to the park with us Jack! It was so much fun.
