Six months old

We didn’t make it to Columbia for our Aunt Michelle photo session so these pictures from my phone will have to suffice.  These were taken at Ryan’s uncle’s home in Mauldin, SC.  Such a perfect back drop for my not so perfect photography skills.

Hard to believe it’s been half a year since we met our sweet boy.  He is such a delight.  Always smiling with his wide open gummy grin and his big blue eyes.  He is so fair skinned and has such light hair, still.  I’m wondering if he’ll keep his blue eyes? I sure hope so. image Ethan can sit very well on his own.  I know he is thinking, “what else can I do besides sit here?” but just can’t figure out his next trick yet.  Don’t worry buddy, you’ll get there soon enough.  He is eating a variety of food and loves every minute of it.  It’s the cutest thing to watch him eat his puffs right now.  He is also learning to drink from a sippy cup and doing quite well.   Kendall continues to light up his day and can make him smile and laugh so quickly.  I.LOVE.IT!! Sometimes I make Kendall play with him on purpose just so I can see the two of them interact.  Shh!! Nobody tell Kendall.  Although she loves it just the same!imageimage We love you so very much sweet boy and I know I will say that to you and your sister more than you will probably want to hear.  You are so laid back and easy going! I’m so glad to be your mom!imageimage

Isle of Palms

Michelle and the boys came down from Columbia today to spend a day at the beach.  It was Kendall’s second time on the beach but her first time to really play and get used to the sand and water.  She hung out with Sam under the umbrella for a while until she got used to everything.  Once she explored some more, she was a pro.  You would have thought she had been before.imageShe had so much fun playing in the sand and running through the water.imageLook at my sweet nephews and their momma! Check out my sister’s beach day blog.imageThese two were too funny to watch.  It was a game of monkey see, monkey do at some points. imageKendall had an absolute blast being tossed in the air by daddy.  She went back for more a few times and wore daddy out.  Yes, she looks pretty high but she was in safe hands!imageI can’t wait for the next trip to the beach.  I know Kendall will run to meet the waves.

Daddy’s Guitar…

Was a hit with our music loving girl. Ryan decided to dust off his guitar case, bring out the guitar and play some music for Kendall and me while we played upstairs. Kendall heard the first strum of the guitar and quickly wanted to try it out for herself. Ryan tuned it up a bit and then let her have a turn. I was impressed with how gentle she was with the strings. She has seen daddy play the guitar a time or two and it didn’t take long for her to understand how to make the music. She even pressed on the chords and used the pick to strum. I shouldn’t be so surprised, this child loves music. Who knows, maybe we have the next Taylor Swift?

Boat Day

We took Kendall on the boat for the first time today with some friends.  Nine of us piled on to the Gehlken’s boat and made our way from the river to the lake.  We had three kids in tow, so we were unsure on how the ride would go.  It was perfect.  Kendall wasn’t too keen on the wind in the beginning but quickly got used to it and didn’t mind it one bit.

Kendall wanted to try on Stryker’s arm floaties and loved every minute of wearing them.  She liked to kick her feet in the water and watch all of the splashing she did.image Faith eating her sandwich while we were in the locks and sweet Mr. Stryker, “cheesin.”image Kendall had to touch every speaker and button she found around the boat and danced to the music at the same time.  She made her way around the inside of the boat like a pro.image

I didn’t bring my camera on the water for fear of getting it wet and we were cautious as well with our phones, hence the lack of pictures. It sure was a fun day! Can’t wait until next time.

Boat Ride

We celebrated Father’s Day one weekend late with my dad so it would work for Michelle and Adam to make it into town.  Dad wanted to go on a boat ride with everyone, although mom had to work.  We did miss her being there.  We headed out to the river for some fun in the sun!  Kendall loved being on the boat and was tucked away safe in everyone’s arms.  There was a life jacket on board for lil’ miss however she was so uncomfortable when she had it on, we just kept it close by.  Maybe next time, she will fit into it a little better.imageJack is an experienced boat rider and loves to check out all of the buttons and especially the steering wheel.  Uncle Adam even showed Jack how to honk the horn.  In between exploring the boat and eating lunch, Jack posed for a few pictures.  Such a happy boy!imageI know these two dads sure enjoyed this belated celebration! imageIt was such a nice day and we couldn’t have asked for better company.  Dad, you are so special and important to all of your kids and you mean so much to us!  Look at us all now!imageKendall enjoyed her first boat ride without a doubt.  The wind blew against her little cheeks and she laughed and played until she was tuckered out.  Amazing what a little bit of fun in the sun can do for our little ones. Jack even fell asleep a few minutes before we docked.  image

Hanging out with Daddy

Ryan loves to snuggle with Kendall and play with her while she kicks around on the blanket.  She smiles pretty for him when he kisses her on her chin and it makes daddy melt.  He has even gotten pretty good at changing diapers, wet and dirty ones. Good job daddy!dad and me

Trying out a bottle

Ryan fed Kendall a bottle tonight. It was our second time trying out a bottle, first for Ryan.  She did so good and we hope to incorporate daddy feeding her each night at her 7 o’clock feeding. Kendall Harper 121
