Happy Memorial Day

Well, although it was overcast on this Memorial day, we headed over to some friends house for a cookout out and to play in the pool.  The sun ended up peeking through the clouds and the rain did hold off.  I bought Kendall a sweet little bathing suit and we tested it out, with Stryker, in the inflatable pool.  Kendall loved the water!  She splashed a little and bounced up and down a lot!  Her little legs are so strong!  I can’t wait to see if she’ll like our neighborhood pool and Lindy and Granddaddy’s pool.  I think we might have a little fish on our hands.imageKendall also played with her new toys on our new blanket and was in heaven.  She has really learned how to sit up for long periods and is able to reach forward for her toys if they are out of reach.  She was so content with her toys, I wasn’t able to get her to look up at the camera.  Her gross motor skills are progressing daily and I love watching to see what she’ll reach for next.  I was eating a brownie this afternoon and she almost grabbed it right out of my hand.imageKendall also had fun on Stryker’s swing.  She really loves the outdoors and was such a happy baby during all of her outdoor fun.  I love the expressions she was giving me as she was swinging.  I cant wait to take Kendall to the park this summer to play on the swings.  I love that she loves the outdoors so much, that’s my baby!imageHappy Memorial Day everyone!  Thank you to daddy, great Grandpa Singer, Uncle Adam, great Grandpa Grant, and Granddaddy for all you have done while in the military!  We appreciate all you have done for our country!

So sweet!

After much thought and discussion, we decided to get Kendall’s ears pierced.  We went to Claire’s boutique after daddy got home from golfing.  The lady who helped us was so nice and very considerate of Kendall.  She explained the whole piercing procedure and after care instructions very thoroughly.  She was also very patient in letting Kendall take as long as she needed to calm down after the first ear was pierced before we did the second ear.  It took less then a minute.  Kendall did so good and the nice lady said Kendall was one of the best babies she has ever pierced ears on.  imageKendall was very cooperative in letting the lady clean her ears beforehand as well as marking her ears for the perfect spot.  Daddy double checked behind her to make sure the dots were centered.  He said, “looks like you got em’ right on the money!”imageKendall-

You were such a brave baby girl when we got your ears pierced.  You sat on mommy’s lap and watched closely as the nice lady got everything ready to pierce your ears.  Almost as if to say, “what are you going to do with all of that stuff?”  Once the lady pierced the first ear, your cry was very delayed.  You cried, but only for a short time.  I think it was more of the noise that startled you then the piercing itself.  We walked around the store for a minute after the first ear was pierced so you could calm down and it was a matter of seconds before you were happy again.  Daddy took a few pictures but we’ll have to take a happy one to add in another post.    We are so proud of you and look forward to enjoying all of the memories to be made with all of the pretty earrings you will soon be wearing.

Splish splash, Kendall’s taking a bath.

Kendall continues to really enjoy bath time.  The look on her face when she is in the bathtub is one of such contentment and relaxation.   So far, she just likes to sit back and relax while I bathe her and wash her hair.  Lindy and Granddaddy went to the space shuttle launch last week and brought back a rubber ducky souvenir.  I have showed her how to play with it in the water but she likes to put it in her mouth instead.  I think she is almost to the point of transitioning from the sling to the sitting position in her tub.  Soon enough she will be splashing and kicking, I won’t be able to keep her still.  I really enjoy our time together during baths, it’s so peaceful! imageAfter the bath, we head to her room for lotion, pj’s, a bedtime story, her final time to nurse and then bedtime.  Kendall smiles so big when she sees me rub my hands together to warm up the lotion.  It is the cutest smile and is one of the many that I get to see before I lay her down for bed.  Thank you baby girl for being so generous with your smiles.  You complete mommy’s night, knowing how happy you are when you fall asleep!image

And she likes it…

Rice cereal that is! Tonight was actually the second night we tried rice cereal but when we tried it on Sunday, we didn’t get many pictures. Kendall really seemed to like it and was reaching for more after a few bites. She made some funny faces as the spoon touched her lips and the cereal touched her tongue, they were just too cute. Her tongue pushed some of the cereal out a time or two as she was getting used to the taste and texture. I’m still not sure if we’ll start cereal every night but we will play it by ear. I already feel like she is growing too fast!

Kendall-

You did so good with the introduction of rice cereal. Mommy and daddy are so proud of you. We are excited for you to be able to try fruits and veggies one day soon but not too soon. Thank you for trying something new and not putting up a fuss. Maybe this is a sign that you won’t be a picky eater. One solid down and many more to go! Good job sweet girl!

She’s rolling over

Recently during tummy time, Kendall has been able to roll over either shoulder to her back.   It has now started to become more of a smooth roll instead of an accidental roll.  She is so excited when she gets to her back.  Her expression is almost as if she is thinking, “wow, how’d I do that?”  Well, on Friday evening, Kendall rolled from her back to her tummy.  It takes her a minute to get her arm out from underneath her but she’s getting pretty quick at doing so. The video is Saturday morning after her morning feeding so that is why she is still in her pajamas.  I can’t believe my almost 4 month old is already rolling over.  She seems too little to know how to do that already.  Good job baby girl!

Excuse my arm that enters the picture, I was trying to get the rattle.

She’s sitting!!

Yesterday evening I was playing with Kendall on her blanket and I decided to see if she could sit on her own.  I thought, “no way, she’s too little but I’ll try.”  Low and behold she proved me wrong.  She was able to sit on her own for about 45 seconds to begin with.  I tried letting her sit alone a few more times and she sat for longer and longer periods.  She was able to reach for a toy in front of her without losing her balance and at one point she was even able to catch herself as she leaned and stayed sitting instead of falling forward.  Of course mommy’s hands were ready and waiting should she have needed my help.  Although she hasn’t mastered this task 100%, we are very proud of our little girl for being so advanced at 18 weeks 6 days. image You continue to amaze us little one! Thank you for being such a sweet baby girl and bringing so much joy, love and laughter into our lives.  We love you more and more as the days go by!

Four month well check

Kendall was quite the entertainer today for Dr. Nordby.  She was grabbing her feet, rolling side to side, smiling and showing off her hand eye coordination.  Dr. Nordby was highly impressed with Kendall’s development and said some of the things she was doing, she hasn’t seen 7 month olds be able to do.

I was holding Kendall on my left hip as I was talking to the doctor and had the pacifier in my right hand.  Kendall reached out for the pacifier and brought it back to her mouth. It was a little bit crooked but she was manipulating it into her mouth the best way she could.  Dr. Nordby said, “does your baby know she’s only 4 months old and not grown yet?” It made me chuckle although at the same time somewhat sad.  I know she is growing and doing new things every day and I don’t want her to get too smart too fast.  She will forever be my little baby!imageKendall doesn’t mind being on the scale for the short time it takes to get her weight.  As you can see, she was watching closely to see what the nurse was doing.  She never wants to miss anything.  She was even somewhat still while the nurse moved the scale weights.  Kendall received two shots today, one in each leg and one orally. She handled them ALL like a champ!!image

She’s quite the talker

Kendall loves to stretch and play on the blanket.  She is rolling over a lot more lately and loves to use her voice any time she can.  She wants to make sure you can hear what she’s talking about.

Mother’s day weekend

This weekend was an extra special one for me! It was my very first Mother’s day.  I look at Kendall everyday and thank God for letting me be her mom.  I am so proud to be called her mother!  It is a title I have wanted to call myself for as long as I can remember.  She keeps my heart whole and a smile on my face every time I see her.  There are no words to explain the amount of love I have for her and it continues to grow every day.  I can only hope that I will be the mother to Kendall that my mom was to me.  I feel incredibly blessed in so many ways this Mother’s day!imageMichelle, Mark, Jack and Adam all came into town on Saturday. Together, with mom and dad, we all headed to Middleton Park for a picnic lunch.  The weather was beautiful and luckily the park wasn’t too crowded so we grabbed some picnic tables in the shade.  Jack was able to run around and play in the water and Kendall played on her blanket.imageimage I love that Kendall loves to be outdoors. She likes the camera too, especially Aunt Michelle’s! imageWe hope you had a wonderful Mother’s day, Grandma! Glad we could all celebrate together!image

On Sunday, we headed over to the Grant’s for a Mother’s day cookout.  A few brave souls decided to take a dip in the pool even though the water wasn’t quite warm enough.  Sullivan and Emory had fun being tossed into the air by Uncle Ryan, they kept coming back for more.imageSullivan said this handstand was especially for Kendall! Good job, buddy!imageKendall enjoyed some fun in the shade and watching everyone in the pool.  The water was a tad too chilly for her (and me) this time around.  Soon enough we will be in the pool playing too.imageWe enjoyed each other’s company inside for a bit before heading home.image

Four months old

This month has been a busy month for lil’ miss!  She has learned so many new things and it is so fun to watch her as she discovers something new.  Kendall is rolling over from back to tummy and tummy to back, holding toys in her little hands, grabbing our faces (especially our nose) and using her legs a lot!  She loves to stand, with our help and her little legs are so strong.  She has also learned that she can make different noises with her voice.  Sometimes, I’m almost positive she has said mamaimageThe exersaucer is one of her favorite toys! She has figured out how to push the music buttons, spin the seat in circles to see everything and look at herself in the mirror.  Smart girl!imageSome of the things she likes to play with are at Grandma and Grandpa’s house. The iPod touch was by far her favorite.  She enjoys one of the rattle applications on the iPod touch. imageKendall-

You have made your daddy and I so happy over these past four months.  Your smiles make our day and light up our hearts.  We are raising you to the best of our ability and hope one day you’ll know how much you mean to us!  You are such a happy baby and content in most any setting.  Sometimes if it gets too loud you get overwhelmed but are easily soothed.  You are still eating every three hours but have stretched it a few times to four hours.  You continue to take short cat naps during the day with one long nap usually in the morning.  Bedtime is 7:30 and you have adjusted well to your bedtime routine.  Story time and bath time make you so happy!  We love you sweet girl, and our lives have only gotten better since you have arrived.

A day at the park

It was such a nice day today, we decided to take Kendall to the park.  We found a nice spot in the shade where she was able to play on her blanket.  She didn’t do much rolling as she was too concerned with looking above at the trees and in the sky.  We took a walk on the trails while Kendall napped in the stroller before we headed home.   image imageI wanted to see how Kendall would do with her toes in the grass.  She didn’t mind a bit! The middle picture cracks me up! I think she’s thinking, “hmm this isn’t so bad” as she’s sucking on her lips.  What a cutie pie!imageThere were so many  families at the park today and it made me so  happy knowing I was there with mine!  I know there will be many more park visits in our future.  Soon enough we will be able to watch Kendall play in the sprinklers, visit the water park or fly a kite, but not too soon!image
