Happy Memorial Day

Well, although it was overcast on this Memorial day, we headed over to some friends house for a cookout out and to play in the pool.  The sun ended up peeking through the clouds and the rain did hold off.  I bought Kendall a sweet little bathing suit and we tested it out, with Stryker, in the inflatable pool.  Kendall loved the water!  She splashed a little and bounced up and down a lot!  Her little legs are so strong!  I can’t wait to see if she’ll like our neighborhood pool and Lindy and Granddaddy’s pool.  I think we might have a little fish on our hands.imageKendall also played with her new toys on our new blanket and was in heaven.  She has really learned how to sit up for long periods and is able to reach forward for her toys if they are out of reach.  She was so content with her toys, I wasn’t able to get her to look up at the camera.  Her gross motor skills are progressing daily and I love watching to see what she’ll reach for next.  I was eating a brownie this afternoon and she almost grabbed it right out of my hand.imageKendall also had fun on Stryker’s swing.  She really loves the outdoors and was such a happy baby during all of her outdoor fun.  I love the expressions she was giving me as she was swinging.  I cant wait to take Kendall to the park this summer to play on the swings.  I love that she loves the outdoors so much, that’s my baby!imageHappy Memorial Day everyone!  Thank you to daddy, great Grandpa Singer, Uncle Adam, great Grandpa Grant, and Granddaddy for all you have done while in the military!  We appreciate all you have done for our country!

So sweet!

After much thought and discussion, we decided to get Kendall’s ears pierced.  We went to Claire’s boutique after daddy got home from golfing.  The lady who helped us was so nice and very considerate of Kendall.  She explained the whole piercing procedure and after care instructions very thoroughly.  She was also very patient in letting Kendall take as long as she needed to calm down after the first ear was pierced before we did the second ear.  It took less then a minute.  Kendall did so good and the nice lady said Kendall was one of the best babies she has ever pierced ears on.  imageKendall was very cooperative in letting the lady clean her ears beforehand as well as marking her ears for the perfect spot.  Daddy double checked behind her to make sure the dots were centered.  He said, “looks like you got em’ right on the money!”imageKendall-

You were such a brave baby girl when we got your ears pierced.  You sat on mommy’s lap and watched closely as the nice lady got everything ready to pierce your ears.  Almost as if to say, “what are you going to do with all of that stuff?”  Once the lady pierced the first ear, your cry was very delayed.  You cried, but only for a short time.  I think it was more of the noise that startled you then the piercing itself.  We walked around the store for a minute after the first ear was pierced so you could calm down and it was a matter of seconds before you were happy again.  Daddy took a few pictures but we’ll have to take a happy one to add in another post.    We are so proud of you and look forward to enjoying all of the memories to be made with all of the pretty earrings you will soon be wearing.

Splish splash, Kendall’s taking a bath.

Kendall continues to really enjoy bath time.  The look on her face when she is in the bathtub is one of such contentment and relaxation.   So far, she just likes to sit back and relax while I bathe her and wash her hair.  Lindy and Granddaddy went to the space shuttle launch last week and brought back a rubber ducky souvenir.  I have showed her how to play with it in the water but she likes to put it in her mouth instead.  I think she is almost to the point of transitioning from the sling to the sitting position in her tub.  Soon enough she will be splashing and kicking, I won’t be able to keep her still.  I really enjoy our time together during baths, it’s so peaceful! imageAfter the bath, we head to her room for lotion, pj’s, a bedtime story, her final time to nurse and then bedtime.  Kendall smiles so big when she sees me rub my hands together to warm up the lotion.  It is the cutest smile and is one of the many that I get to see before I lay her down for bed.  Thank you baby girl for being so generous with your smiles.  You complete mommy’s night, knowing how happy you are when you fall asleep!image

And she likes it…

Rice cereal that is! Tonight was actually the second night we tried rice cereal but when we tried it on Sunday, we didn’t get many pictures. Kendall really seemed to like it and was reaching for more after a few bites. She made some funny faces as the spoon touched her lips and the cereal touched her tongue, they were just too cute. Her tongue pushed some of the cereal out a time or two as she was getting used to the taste and texture. I’m still not sure if we’ll start cereal every night but we will play it by ear. I already feel like she is growing too fast!

Kendall-

You did so good with the introduction of rice cereal. Mommy and daddy are so proud of you. We are excited for you to be able to try fruits and veggies one day soon but not too soon. Thank you for trying something new and not putting up a fuss. Maybe this is a sign that you won’t be a picky eater. One solid down and many more to go! Good job sweet girl!

She’s rolling over

Recently during tummy time, Kendall has been able to roll over either shoulder to her back.   It has now started to become more of a smooth roll instead of an accidental roll.  She is so excited when she gets to her back.  Her expression is almost as if she is thinking, “wow, how’d I do that?”  Well, on Friday evening, Kendall rolled from her back to her tummy.  It takes her a minute to get her arm out from underneath her but she’s getting pretty quick at doing so. The video is Saturday morning after her morning feeding so that is why she is still in her pajamas.  I can’t believe my almost 4 month old is already rolling over.  She seems too little to know how to do that already.  Good job baby girl!

Excuse my arm that enters the picture, I was trying to get the rattle.

She’s sitting!!

Yesterday evening I was playing with Kendall on her blanket and I decided to see if she could sit on her own.  I thought, “no way, she’s too little but I’ll try.”  Low and behold she proved me wrong.  She was able to sit on her own for about 45 seconds to begin with.  I tried letting her sit alone a few more times and she sat for longer and longer periods.  She was able to reach for a toy in front of her without losing her balance and at one point she was even able to catch herself as she leaned and stayed sitting instead of falling forward.  Of course mommy’s hands were ready and waiting should she have needed my help.  Although she hasn’t mastered this task 100%, we are very proud of our little girl for being so advanced at 18 weeks 6 days. image You continue to amaze us little one! Thank you for being such a sweet baby girl and bringing so much joy, love and laughter into our lives.  We love you more and more as the days go by!
