Michigan trip – Part Two

There is no rhyme or reason to all of the pictures I took in Michigan so here is the rest of them from our trip.  We were here and there every day.  We went to a wedding shower, a book store, an ice cream parlor, read books, played in pj’s and just plan made the most of our trip.  I miss those days so much!  Thank you to all of my Michigan and Tennessee family for making our trip so fun…as always!imageThere is a life sized doll house in the courtyard of my grandmother’s complex and I do believe Kendall had her eye on it all week.  We finally made our way to it and Kendall had so much fun!image imageimageimageimageimageimageimage

Michigan trip- Part One

Yes, I am aware it has been a while since I have blogged.  I can’t keep up with it as I would like to but yet again, better late than never, I say.

We took our annual Michigan trip this year, leaving SC on July 14 and returning home July 23. I must admit, I was nervous as to how the car ride would go with a potty trained toddler and a 5 month old new traveler.  They both far surpassed my expectations.  I took along a potty chair that fit fine in between the two car seats for those potty breaks that were no where near a rest area, gas station or fast food joint.  Kendall thought that was the coolest thing to go potty in the car.  She would say, “stop the car, grandma!” as we were on the interstate.  Please know these were the fastest potty breaks and she was safely buckled back in her car seat very quickly.  I did have to sit in the back a few times to assist with DVD’s, feed a bottle, console a bored baby and my favorite, color but all in all the trip was great.

I took a lot of pictures with my phone so I will just post them for your viewing pleasure and only use words when needed. imageimage imageimage imageimage image

Grand Rapids trip

Kendall and I loaded up in the Yukon, last Thursday and headed to Myrtle Beach with Grandma, Jack, Sam and Aunt Michelle to catch our flight to Michigan for our summer trip.  This year, it was a short trip (for my cousin’s wedding) but very well worth it.

We waited to board our flight and tried to keep Kendall and Jack entertained at a busy gate in the mean time. Oh, what fun (and exercise) we had.  These little cousins sure did have a good time playing with the seatbelts before take off. imageKendall and Jack aren’t much for shopping so we found something more to their interest when we visited Woodland Mall.imageIt is a tradition to make a stop at Arnie’s for breakfast each time we are in Michigan and this trip was no exception.  We are missing a few people in this photo (there were 20 of us) since a few family members left before the picture was taken.image I don’t know what I was thinking at the wedding, but these are the only two pictures I took.  None of the bride and groom, none of the decorations, none of my family. Just plain none.  My sister’s blog for the trip is better.  She was able to get some pictures from our cousins.imageWe packed our things and headed to the airport way too early and said our good byes to Michigan!  It was a short but sweet trip and definitely went by too fast. image

Myrtle Beach trip – take 2

We had a full day planned for Sunday so we headed out early to beat the heat and the crowds.

First stop, Hawaiian Rumble miniature golf.  Kendall fell asleep on the way there, as it was just reaching her nap time.  I stayed in the car with her and when she woke up, we met everyone on hole 12.  Kendall was quite impressed with the golf ball and golf club but mostly the hole at the end of the green.  Thankfully, she has some understanding family members who let her take a turn with their club and a ball.  When her turn was done, she decided it was much easier to use her hand to get the ball in the hole then it was to use the golf club.  Practice makes perfect, sweet girl! Maybe Jack can teach you one day?(sorry about the shadows)imageDaddy tried showing her how to putt so then she showed him where the hole was. Love it!imageWe stopped for lunch after golf and then back to the resort for naps, swimming, tanning and just plain relaxation!  Dinner was on the agenda and then to Wonder Works.  What a site to see!  This attraction opened in April and has welcomed many people through their doors.  The building itself is enough to spark your interest.  I didn’t get to take many pictures when we were inside, as I was watching chasing Kendall.  Ryan, Sullivan and Randy tested their skills at beam, rope and stair climbing.  Boy, did they have fun! I think Ryan talked about it the entire next day.

There are a few more pictures to share but I don’t have them yet (they are from Lindy’s camera) but I will have to prove we laid on a bed of nails, I promise!image

Myrtle Beach trip

Friday after work, we packed up the car and headed to Myrtle Beach to celebrate Mr. Grant’s 70th birthday.  The only thing he asked for, for his birthday, was for the whole family to be together and that is exactly what he got.  It was a fun filled weekend in Myrtle Beach!  I promise these first three photos have not been edited in anyway. As a matter of fact, they are from my phone! Beautiful, wouldn’t you agree?imageThis was the view from the balcony of our room on the eighth floor.image We tried the beach again with lil’ miss but she still was not a fan (yet, I hope).  Emory went with us, in hopes that she would see her cousin enjoying the sand and join in.  Not so much! imageThe playground area, however was a huge hit.  Kendall, Emory and myself made our way to the play house while Lindy, Granddaddy, Ryan and Sullivan tried out some putt-putt golf that was nearby (they were close but too far away for pictures).imageWe stayed at Dunes Village, which was quite the resort I must say.  It had a 30,000 square foot indoor water park that was spread throughout the three towers.  Anyone who knows, SC weather, can appreciate the idea of having this be inside.  It was perfect for all of us.  Kendall LOVES the bath but yet again, was still unsure of the new water and surroundings.  I was lucky to catch this picture of her on a float in the lazy river.  Sullivan had a blast playing basketball.image This was just day one of the trip.  I still have some pictures to send from my phone to the computer so there will be a continued post.

Myrtle Beach – Lindy’s pictures

Here are the final set of pictures from Myrtle Beach.

These first two were inside one of the water park towers.  What a cutie!image We hung out in the condo for a bit one morning and Kendall loved wearing Emory’s life vest.image This was our best family photo.  It’s hard to get everyone to look at one time and it was windy! (please excuse the blurriness)imageStopping on the bridge during putt putt (please excuse the blurriness).image And, as promised, here is the pictures of Ryan and I on a bed of nails. Yes, it hurt…me!image
