Nine month well visit

Another healthy check up with no complaints.  We are so thankful for your good health

baby boy! I didn’t get too many pictures this time as he would only sit on my lap and big

sister was with us. Definitely fun times though! image

Nine months old

My baby boy! Three months until you’re ONE! What? It seems like your first year flew by faster than your sister’s.  I am soaking up every bit of baby that I can.  You are crawling like a champ and have one tooth coming in, on the bottom.  You have dealt well with teething, so far and your tooth popped up without any troubles.  I’m thankful for that and hope it continues.  You are letting go of things when you are standing and continue to get braver and stand longer all the time.

Kendall makes you laugh uncontrollably and so easily.  I absolutely love watching you two play.  Your sister already calls you her best friend and it melts my heart.  She looks after you and always wants to “make sure Ethan doesn’t cry, okay mom?” We will always watch out for you, buddy.  You have started saying da da da lately and are really good at making the ga sound.  So far, no mama but I’m working on it.

image

I love you, my boy! I love snuggling with you, kissing your little cheeks. I love that you smile when you see me and come crawling so fast. I love that you’re a mommy’s boy right now.  I love your laugh and your smile.  I love you (and your sister) to the moon and back!

Eight months old

You are growing so quickly sweet boy. Closer to ONE  as the days go by.  You are attempting to crawl and sometimes get up on your knees but so far you aren’t going anywhere.  Meal time is not a problem for you.  Peas are about the only thing you won’t eat right now, maybe that will change.  The sippy cup has caught your eye when it is on your high chair tray and you are a good water drinker. You love to pull up on things and Kendall wants to help you as much as she can.  She loves you so very much and so do mommy and daddy.image Your personality continues to thrive and it’s the cutest.  Your expressions, your squeals, your laughs, I just love it all.  Check out the smile, the mohawk (look closely), the tongue and the funny face! Couldn’t you just eat ‘em up? image You love to sit in the high chair when we are out and ‘just take it all in’. I love to watch your face and see your eyes focus on different things that interest you. I wish I knew what you were thinking.imageYou complete our family, little one! I’m so thankful to be your momma and look forward to all the days ahead. Thanks for keeping my heart full!

Six months old

We didn’t make it to Columbia for our Aunt Michelle photo session so these pictures from my phone will have to suffice.  These were taken at Ryan’s uncle’s home in Mauldin, SC.  Such a perfect back drop for my not so perfect photography skills.

Hard to believe it’s been half a year since we met our sweet boy.  He is such a delight.  Always smiling with his wide open gummy grin and his big blue eyes.  He is so fair skinned and has such light hair, still.  I’m wondering if he’ll keep his blue eyes? I sure hope so. image Ethan can sit very well on his own.  I know he is thinking, “what else can I do besides sit here?” but just can’t figure out his next trick yet.  Don’t worry buddy, you’ll get there soon enough.  He is eating a variety of food and loves every minute of it.  It’s the cutest thing to watch him eat his puffs right now.  He is also learning to drink from a sippy cup and doing quite well.   Kendall continues to light up his day and can make him smile and laugh so quickly.  I.LOVE.IT!! Sometimes I make Kendall play with him on purpose just so I can see the two of them interact.  Shh!! Nobody tell Kendall.  Although she loves it just the same!imageimage We love you so very much sweet boy and I know I will say that to you and your sister more than you will probably want to hear.  You are so laid back and easy going! I’m so glad to be your mom!imageimage

Four months old

Well, little munchkin, you are growing like a weed.  I feel like you are a lot bigger then Kendall was at this age.  We will find out on June 11 how you measure out.  You are such a happy baby and rarely cry.  I have continued with your Zantac but mostly just once a day, it seems to be keeping you content.  There has only been one day, that I can remember, that I did not give you any Zantac and it made quite the difference.  You were incredibly fussy and spit up more then normal.  Thankfully that has only happened once.

Smiling is one of your favorite things and it just melts my heart to see that big, gummy, wide mouthed grin practically all day long.  And, I love to make you laugh, boy is it the best.  I must say I’m good at it too.  I’ll have to get that on video soon.  imageimage                                            It was rainy on the day you turned 4 months but these were two days later)

You are still good at nursing and you are up to drinking six and a half to seven ounces of milk with each bottle.  You’re last feeding is between seven and nine in the evening and you usually wake up around one or three in the morning to eat again.  I’m hoping that sleeping through the night will be coming soon.  You are in a size two diaper and mostly 3-6 months clothes.  Your sister adores you and wants to make sure you are okay at all times.  She is your little mommy.  She helps out with so much and sometimes I just sit and watch as she plays with you and kisses you. If you are crying, she can coo at you for a few seconds and you are quiet in an instant and thank her with one of your sweet smiles.  I think you love her as much as I do!

I’m so thankful to be the mommy to two precious babies.  I love you both so very much!

Two months old

My sweet boy! You are growing like a weed.  I completely skipped out on your one month post.  It came and went so fast.  There is not a whole lot that has changed however, so I’m not that far behind.  You are a momma’s boy right now.  Grandpa says, you have an internal blue tooth device that goes off if I get too far away.  There have been a few times that you have been sound asleep and when I leave the room you wake up instantly.  You love your momma and that’s all that matters.  imageYou have done well with the Zantac twice a day and I think I could safely say all of your symptoms are controlled.  I have forgotten, just one time, to give you both doses and you did seem to be a bit more fussy that day.   Dr. Nordby suggested we stick to nursing still every three hours in order to give the Zantac time to work.  You are smiling so much right now and starting to coo quite often. I just love it and your smile melts my heart.  imageYour big sister adores you and helps out with anything she can when it comes to you.  Her favorite is to help get the diaper and wipes when we change you.  She wants to be a part of everything and I couldn’t ask for a better helper.

We all love you so much, my boy, and I know the months are going to continue to fly by like they did with your sister.  I will cherish every moment of your baby phase, each and every month.  We continue to pray for a healthy, blessed life for you, Ethan, and will do all we can to provide that for you.

Kendall is TWO!!

It can be said over and over, “time flies” and it is truly evident when you have a child.  They grow so fast and do new things in the blink of an eye.  It’s amazing to me that Kendall is already two.  I could go on and on about the things she says and does but it just doesn’t do it justice unless you interact with her.  She has developed such a personality and is quite the character.

I brought her to day care for half a day on her birthday because she has recently started in a new classroom and I didn’t want to interrupt the transitioning phase (plus I wanted to bring cupcakes to her class).  I was off from work that day so I picked her up right after lunch and we enjoyed the rest of the day.  I love this first thing in the morning sleepy eye, say “cheese” picture.image When we got to the day care, this sign was outside of her door.  And my cupcakes that I made decided to topple over in the car so they are somewhat pitiful looking.  I didn’t get any pictures of all of the kids enjoying the cupcakes because I was too busy passing the cupcakes out.  I think Kendall ate one un-iced cupcake and chose to lick the icing off two, just in the time I was there.image When daddy got home from work, we opened some presents and then headed to Chuck E Cheese for dinner.  She is so fast these days, I think most of the pictures were of the back of her head or very blurry.  The only time she was really still was sitting on the Barney ride, dancing with the stationary Chuckie and to eat.  Smarty pants knows how to ask for money for rides too!imageIn typical non-photographer Lindsey fashion, I forgot to take a picture of the uncut cake and did not have a single candle (or two) for our baby girl to blow out.  That did not bother her and she knew exactly what to do with every bit of cake that was on her plate. imageIt has been an incredible two years and I can’t even imagine how much joy and happiness Kendall will bring in the years to come.  She has made my heart bigger and I smile every day because of her.  So many people love you, sweet girl!  Happy 2nd Birthday to you!

Twenty two months old

Do you see the focus in this twenty two month old? You can’t miss it. And all because of Dora. Kendall watches tv for a little bit after she gets home from day care and Dora is her most favorite right now. She can name Dora, Boots, Swiper , the map and the backpack without hesitation. Occasionally, she will say the Spanish words when the characters say to do so. Azul (blue) has been the most recent. I was surprised when I heard her say it. Future linguist?

Kendall has eleven teeth now but that has not added much to her list of foods she will eat (insert sad mommy face). I continue to try new things and reintroduce old but she is one picky eater, I tell ya. I keep hearing, “one day she’ll eat you out of house and home.” I beg to differ right now. She is showing signs of really wanting to start potty training however the classroom she is in does not help with that at her age so i don’t want to confuse her. We’ll start soon enough.

She continues to talk like crazy and is putting two to three words together. I love it. She is more in tune with my growing belly and knows that there is a baby inside. I’m working on teaching her to say brother and Ethan but those don’t come out so clear right now. In case anyone wonders, she does, to my dismay, still have the paci. I am thankful it’s just at night but still wish it was gone. I think I can! I think I can! That’s what I’ll have to tell myself in order to get rid of it.

We continue to be blessed with a healthy, happy, growing little girl who makes us smile every single day. She is so full of life and makes my heart bigger every day. Thank you sweet girl!

Twenty one months old

Another month older, another month of happiness.  Kendall is a joy to have as a daughter and it just really gets better and better as she gets older.  There really isn’t too much to update this month except for her teeth. She has eleven now.  It took 8 1/2 months from the time the first two came in until we saw anymore but now they just keep coming and you wouldn’t know it unless she opens her mouth.  I hope they all are that easy.  We still have the pacifier for those that might be wondering.  I actually haven’t even tried  to get rid of it.  My plan is to attempt that this weekend.  Ha, good luck to me, right? imageThe outdoors is a huge play area for little miss.  She is always checking out the leaves, mulch, flower beds, birds, lizards, trees, and noises.  There is not a bug nor car that passes by without getting her attention somehow.  And she never misses an airplane (excuse the blurriness).imageIt is hard for me to think, that in just three months, I will have a 2 year old.  I think I need to start planning her birthday party before I run out of time.  Here’s to another month of joy sweet girl!

Twenty months old

Our sweet girl was under the weather for her 20 month birthday.  After we went to the beach on Saturday (pictures to come), she woke up Sunday morning with a fever and it lasted for three days.  We went to the doctor and were told it was just something viral, everything else checked out normal.  What a sweet picture.

Kendall has adjusted very well to day care. She has been there since June 13 and is no longer using the pacifier during nap time while she is there.  This momma needs to get with the program and take it away at home.  She only gets it for naps and a bedtime however, I’m ready to be done with it.  I feel like she is getting too big for a pacifier.  I know I just need to not give in (ha, easier said then done).

sweet Kendall has eight teeth right now, although they are not all completely in.  She is taking her time with popping teeth out, I’ll tell ya. I’m just hoping the longer they take to come in, the healthier and straighter her adult teeth will be. We’ll see! Food is still a challenge for us as Kendall is so picky with food.  I have introduced new foods over and over with no luck. I have tried to disguise food and she’s too smart for that.  She still prefers chicken nuggets, mac and cheese and turkey dogs over anything else.  Breakfast is not a problem, it’s only lunch and dinner that we need help with.  Thankfully she loves most fruits so she is eating a little bit healthy.  We’ll get there, I hope.

Her personality, still, continues to blossom.  She is so funny, every single day.  She is talking more and more and her memory is really starting to shine.  She surprises me with things that she remembers, although some of it, I know is her “routine.”  I think the sweetest thing she does right now is to reach for my belly, lift up my shirt, kiss my belly and she says “baby!”  The sound effect for the kiss is the best and she does it over and over.  I. LOVE. HER!! Happy 20 months sweet girl!

Nineteen months old

Well, I am way over due on this post but things have been extra busy and stressful around our house lately.  I don’t have many pictures either but I promise the next months post will be better.

Kendall now has, get this, SIX teeth coming in all at once.  The day we went for her 18 month well visit, Dr. Nordby checked her mouth and showed me her two upper molars and pointed out the other four that were coming in.  Kendall has handled teething, since day one, without any problems and I am so very thankful.  I am keeping my fingers crossed that baby number two is just as lucky.

These pictures are from the Charleston Mommies 4th Birthday Bash.  We all had a blast.  A company called Jump Bunch provided activities for the kids, we had clowns and carnival themed games.  Kendall thought it would be fun to jump over the net a few times too, and needless to say, her shoe got stuck but she was fine.image image I couldn’t help but share these two pictures.  They are blurry but you should have seen what this momma went through to get just these.  Kendall wanted to try on Grandma’s glasses a few times and thought they were fun to play with.  We didn’t let her keep them on long.imageI love Kendall’s personality as she is growing.  She laughs all of the time.  She can copy most words I ask her to say, she is counting (but mainly focuses on the number 2).  I am continuing to teach her about colors and letters and she seems to pick up things very quickly.  Not too much new to update.  Our happy, healthy, ball of energy 19 month old is funnier, prettier, taller, smarter and more fun as the days go by.

Eighteen months old

Look how big my baby is getting!  She looks so tall.  Her most recent, newest, favorite thing is to eat Cheerios out of a tupperware container.  She thinks she is hot stuff. “MINE” she says if you try to take it away or even help her to hold it upright. imageWhat a sweet face! imageKendall really enjoys puzzles and stickers right now.  They keep her occupied for quite a bit of time.  I love to watch her focus on what she is doing.  She has learned many more animal sounds, which are the cutest thing to hear and I have been working on a few numbers and colors.  Her vocabulary is growing and her little personality is flourishing.  She is a hoot, I tell ya!  Kendall still has two teeth and is quite the picky eater.  The newest thing she will eat is cream cheese, either on a waffle or an English muffin.  I am thankful for this.  image Not much else to report with our munchkin.  She goes for her eighteen month well check next Monday so we’ll see what her bill of health has to report.

Seventeen months old

Today we celebrated Kendall’s 17 month birthday at the Grant’s pool.  We have been one other time so far this year and Kendall did not like it, at all!  It took her about thirty minutes to warm up to it this time.  She wasn’t having anything to do with her new float or the water in general until she saw daddy playing with the jet.  She was very interested in the fountain of water coming from the little white pipe (see the far left picture, the pipe is barely showing at the bottom).

Dan, Rachel and Stryker joined us at the pool so I think with Kendall seeing Stryker play, it helped ease her mind.  Once Ryan got her in, it was smooth sailing from there.  I helped her blow bubbles in the water and kick her feet to make a splash, she loved that.  I can’t wait until next time.imageWe got home just in time for dinner and a little bit of tv.  Kendall ate all of her broccoli and some of her cauliflower while in her bathing suit cover up.  She had it all over her face and of course her WHITE cover up.  So far I have washed it once and the cheese sauce did not come out.  She is in a stage right now where she does not like to wear her bib and pulls it off as fast as I can put it on.  It’s pretty cute to watch but oh, the mess it leaves behind.image There isn’t much new to report this month.  Still, I say, still, only two teeth.  She is into puzzles and books right now and is such a copy cat.  She can mimic almost anything I show her or any sound I make.  She can make an elephant sound, a monkey and a horse.  Love it!!  We laugh at her daily and she always keeps a smile on our face.  It is truly a joy to be her parents! We love you, Kendall!

Sixteen months old

Another month older, and yes, still only TWO teeth.  I know one day “they’ll come” like everyone says but I just wonder when.  It is not hindering you from eating although with more teeth I’m hoping there will come a bigger variety of what you like to eat.  You still enjoy the same staples (chicken fingers, mac and cheese, any fruit, cheese and veggie burgers) and will try new things, sometimes, when I give them to you.  imageYou love to run, dance, jump and climb all of the time.  Your little feet can get you from one room to the next in no time, I think you should have the nickname Flash.  You have started to tell everyone what you want by grabbing their finger and taking them in the direction of where you want to go.  Outside, upstairs, the kitchen and the piano room and frog (where the Big Fish is) at Grandma and Grandpa’s are a few of your favorite places. You definitely are able to get your point across and your needs known.

These are two sweet pictures I had to share. Thank goodness for easy access of my iPhone.imageYour vocabulary is growing daily and I love to try to figure out what you are wanting to say.  You can make a cow and a horse sound.  You have also started trying to sing your ABC’s but only get as far as A-B and then you want mom to finish the song.  I sing to you in the car a lot and that is one of your favorites.  I have also completely left out the milestone that you have been in your toddler bed for almost a month with just a side rail on the open end.  No more crib for you, my little climber.  The toddler bed has been a success until just this week when you figured out how to move the pillow at the opening, to get in and out.  Thankfully your bed is at a perfect height that you cannot get hurt if you decide to climb out.  It has been so fun watching you grow and I love that there is always something new every day.  I;m excited to see what the next month will bring. (Hopefully teeth, hee hee!)

Fifteen months old

Kendall. Is. A. Hoot!! Her personality is amazing and flourished more then ever.  She makes anyone around her laugh constantly.  I joked the other day, saying she needed her own comedy show, yes, at 15 months old.  She is a character of all sorts.  She makes funny faces, funny sounds, funny movements….she’s just plain funny!

Kendall, grandma and I went to the mall a few days ago and happened to pass by the Mickey ride.  We tried to  keep walking but Kendall would not let us.  She doesn’t like to be in the stroller much anymore so when I put her down she made a mad dash back to where she knew M O (Mickey) would be waiting.  The closer we got to Mickey, the louder she got. “M O! M O!” We laughed so hard, we had tears in our eyes!imageBath time is still an all time favorite for our baby girl! She loves to play with (and in) the water.  Coloring on the tub is always a must whether it be with her right hand or left hand.  She is definitely ambidextrous right now! I’m curious to see what hand she’ll start to favor.  At meal times she tends to use her left hand for the utensils and when picking up some toys. We’ll see! imageIt is rare to catch Kendall sitting still but every once and a while, a cartoon will catch her eye and she will sit still to see what the cartoons are doing.  Kendall has two rocking horses and she quickly mastered getting on and off her pink one so she figured she would tip it upside down and try to stand on top of it (which she did) like a natural equestrian.  I wasn’t quick enough to capture that “trick” as I was too busy trying to make sure she didn’t fall.  I’d have given her a 10 for sure!imageKendall is such a joy! I look forward to every minute I have to spend with her.  You never know what she will do next and it keeps each day interesting and worth waking up for.  She continues to eat most of the same foods.  I continue to introduce new things although, I feel like she is limited to what she can eat since she STILL only has two teeth.  I know the rest of them will come in soon enough.  Funny thing is, I can’t even picture what she’d look like with more teeth!image  Kendall-

It is hard to believe how fast you have grown from our baby girl to our toddler.  You are so beautiful, have the prettiest smile and the most amazing personality.  You are a good listener and really seem to understand what we say to you.  When it is time to take a bath, you head for the stairs and straight to the bath tub.  When it is time to go outside, you know that you have to have your shoes on and head straight for the door, saying “ow-sigh” (outside).  When it’s time for bed, you wave bye bye to dad, head for the stairs, into your room and grab your lovey.  I love knowing that I can understand most things you need or want just by listening to what you want your words to mean.  Grandaddy said tonight, “she knows what she means and means what she says” and he couldn’t be more right! I thank God all of the time for you and couldn’t be a happier mommy!

We love you sweet pea!

Fourteen months old

So of course I have been slack, again with taking pictures but I will try to do better…again.  There isn’t much new to report with lil’ miss.  She’s another month older and silly and sweet as ever.  She walks runs all over the place and is ever so fearless.  She has learned how to get up on the couch and the coffee table with ease.  She still has just two teeth but eats well.  A few new words she has picked up on are “oh no,” “night night,” “uh oh,” and “bubble.”  There are many times she’ll just look at you like “don’t you know what I’m saying to you?”  She is quite the talker.  A few times, I feel as if she has said “what’s that?” as she points to different things.  I’m excited to hear her first few sentences one day.  Below is one of her newest tricks.  She sniffs her nose when she does this too.  So cute!

photo

Kendall-

Thank you for being such a sweet, happy girl! You have quite the personality these days and I look forward to every minute we spend together.  You always make me laugh.  We are so lucky to be your parents and to be able to watch you grow into the toddler you have become.  You are a very good listener and seem to really understand what we say to you.   You continue to love the outdoors and watching you explore everything you find is quite entertaining.   You are growing daily and it seems as though in a blink of an eye you are tall enough to reach into drawers you once could barely see into.  You remain in good health and we are so thankful for that.  Thank you for being you, sweet pea!

We love you,

Mommy and Daddy

Thirteen months old

Another month has arrived but not much new to update about.  Kendall is faster then ever, it seems and enjoys running from room to room.  We have to remind her to slow down sometimes.  She enjoys her playroom and on most days it looks like she has played with every toy in the room.  She still just has two teeth but that doesn’t slow her down too much.  Her favorite right now is fruit.  She has learned where her belly is and if you ask her to find her nose, she’ll get yours first and think about finding hers.  I love watching her play and often wonder what is going on in her mind as she is picking up the toys. The faces she makes are priceless.image Kendall-

You continue to light up mine and your daddy’s lives.  You always make us smile and are starting to become so cuddly and affectionate.  You really like to give hugs and kiss mommy all the time.  I think daddy’s facial hair is prickly on your soft skin so you don’t give daddy kisses yet but you’re working on it.  You’re a great sleeper and know your nap and bedtime routines like the back of your hand.  You love to look at books when mommy reads to you and are really starting to have your favorites.  This past month, you weaned yourself from nursing. Once your bedtime story is over, we rock and say prayers and then it’s into your crib without a peep.  You also no longer use a bottle.  We started whole milk from a sippy cup the day after your 12 month visit and you transitioned without any fight.  We are so proud of you sweet girl and you continue to grow and develop so quickly.  I am cherishing each and every moment with you at every age and it just keeps getting better.

We love you!

Twelve month photo shoot

What an exciting photo shoot this month! Kendall was all over the place, literally.  Michelle took a road trip to Charleston with Jack and Sam on Thursday, so we put her to work while she was here.  We decided to go to Middleton Park with the kiddos to burn some energy that Kendall and Jack had built up.

Kendall wasn’t as still as she has been in the previous months photo shoots, thanks to her two little legs that take her anywhere she wants to explore.  Michelle and I ran in every direction possible trying to get her clothes changed, capture her smiles and get the right lighting.  It was great exercise and lots of fun!

Thank you, thank you, again, to my wonderful sister for chasing my sweet girl around for her twelve month pictures! And thank you to my mom for playing with Jack and watching out for Sam while Michelle was preoccupied!

This first set of pictures was the longest she sat still the entire shoot.imageimageShe played on the slide.imageShe played in the swing.imageAnd tried the merry go round and part of the playground.  So adventurous! LOVE. IT!imageimage
